Sylvie Chaufour, Sculptor

Sculpture and bronze

Sylvie Chaufour was born in Orleans in 1945. After a degree in economics in Paris, her life led her successively from 1970 to 1972 in Haiti and Ivory Coast (Abidjan) where she led her artistic creation and a career of Professor of Mathematics and Commercial Law.

The Artist’s Journey
She returned to France from 1972 to 1975, became the pupil of the great portraitist Mac Avoy. From 1975 to 1981 she lives in Brazil (Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro), learns new techniques of sculpture with Pedro Correa de Araujo, then becomes her assistant before being named responsible for the courses of sculptures, in 1979, at the museum of modern art of Rio de Janeiro. Many encounters with contemporary sculptors nourish his own creation.

Almost all of Sylvie Chaufour’s works are in bronze. Since 1979 she has exhibited them successfully. In 1999 she moved permanently to Provence where she devoted herself exclusively to her passion. The Woman liana and the couple remain his favorite themes. Elegance and sensuality characterize these warm sculptures.

I will present them gladly if you announce your visit.
